Ari Juels’ “The Oracle” Dives Deep into the Perilous Waters of Cryptocurrency and AI
Jules, the pioneer of Chainlink and a Cornell Tech professor is mindful of how technology, which offers incredible opportunities, can also go slightly off a safe track. Contrary to his intentions, he keeps looking at everything with a certain sense of optimism, not seeing this collapse in the immediate future. Nevertheless, he is aware of the disrupting development that is a result of rapid AI adoption, and the absence of human factors in multi-layer digital contracts.
“The Oracle” introduces readers to a world that mirrors our own, with its depiction of rogue smart contracts with lethal capabilities—a subject Juels previously addressed in a 2015 academic study.
Juels highlights that, given that the idea of murder by smart contract is still speculative, especially precautionary measures must be employed to avoid this type of abuse through oracles which could be based on blockchain.
Jules quantified AI and blockchain in a dialogue with CoinDesk in the interview, when he stated that AI neither creates nor destroys any value but it can facilitate decision-making that generates values. The panel pointed out how these bargains can slip out of control and how the financial systems are developing. Also, they touch on those related matters. He argues, “If you control money, you can decide the shape of the real world”, thus, the theme of the novel is in the thundercloud.
Juels laments about the fact that there used to be a mystery and curiosity about the unknown, but this has changed due to overwhelming digital information around, bringing extreme levels of complexity and complexity to our lives.
Considering the future landscape of NFTs and AI, Juels presents a standpoint with a sober view, feeling that such technologies could revolutionize creative expression, making it another thing to worry about for artists, while other movements still go on in a trending format with no other intentions for now.
“The Oracle” is not going to be just an average thievery story. It’s an intelligent insight, which teaches – cognition, sympathy, and cryptocurrencies – to the public. Firstly, Hansel talks about how banks could educate people on how to deal with smart machines wisely to spur a discussion about it.
