Snowden started by saying hi to the large crowd. He remembered his last talk at a Bitcoin meeting in Amsterdam. He noticed that people are now discussing creating a new, independent system instead of complaining about the broken old systems. 

Snowden reminded the audience that Gary Gensler, a big name in the Bitcoin world, does not have the final say on Bitcoin. This is becoming clearer as Bitcoin keeps growing bigger and stronger.

Bitcoin has advanced tremendously, yet the struggle is still unfinished, he told the assembly. He stated that there were many miles to be traversed in constructing a podium beyond the customary monetary and supervision regulations

It was exhilarating for him when he noticed that more politicians than usual were at the conference. He advised those in the audience not to forget themselves while engaging with politicians

At one point, he requested the people attending his address to think about the present situation, how it came to this and where we are headed. He referenced a book about greedy kings who devalued their currencies’ worth. Snowden pointed out that today, we face similar challenges only with paper money or digital currencies instead of coins.

There are strong warnings against privacy invasion by smart computers,” he said. He feared these devices could keep track of every single transaction on Bitcoin’s network thereby creating a live record of someone’s life at all times, which is a privacy infringement.

It was a loud call for the Bitcoin community during Snowden’s speech. He asked them to stand together to defend its users’ privacy and that of the network itself. Lastly, he told those present at his address to vote but not be biased by any political party or leader
