Telegram Founder Pavel Durov Holds $7 Million in Notcoin, Plans to Hold Until 100x Increase.
Massive Player Support for Durov
In February, more than 552,000 Notcoin players donated a portion of their in-game coins to Durov, resulting in his acquiring over 1.03 billion NOT tokens. This accounts for just over 1% of the total Notcoin supply on The Open Network (TON).
Currently, these tokens are valued at approximately $7.3 million, up from their initial valuation of $6.8 million when Durov announced the donation. Despite his substantial wealth, estimated at $15.5 billion by Forbes, Durov has no immediate plans to sell the tokens. Instead, he has committed to holding onto them until their value increases a hundredfold. If the value of the NOT token rises to $680 million, I will sell them to acquire more servers for Telegram, enhancing the app’s infrastructure,” Durov stated.
Notcoin’s Rollercoaster Journey
Notcoin, launched this year as one of the largest gaming tokens, initially had a market capitalization of nearly $1.5 billion. Like many new cryptocurrencies, it has experienced significant ups and downs, with its value halving since its debut. Currently, NOT tokens are priced slightly above $0.007, and the cryptocurrency ranks as the 101st most valuable by market capitalization at $746 million. Despite these changes, Notcoin saw a trading volume of over $1 billion within the first 24 hours of its launch.
After a temporary pause in April to prepare for its token rollout, Notcoin is set to relaunch its crypto-earning game. The game’s co-creator, Sasha Plotvinov, envisions Notcoin evolving into a platform for additional games, aspiring to be the “Netflix of social, viral games.”
New Features for Telegram Users
Starting in November, Telegram will introduce TON Space, a special wallet that users worldwide can use without signing up. This new feature adds to the current Telegram wallet, which already has three million users. However, the self-custodial wallet won’t be available in some places, like the United States, because of rules and regulations.
At the same time, Telegram will add a new feature to its TON Blockchain, letting users send Tether (USDT). The team behind The Open Network (TON) blockchain has also become a Swiss non-profit group, marking a new chapter for the platform.
